Ertalyte-Replacement of Acetal and Nylon
Ertalyte is basically a polymer manufactured by engineering plastics manufacturers. It is an ideal option for making of close tolerance parts. It is available in form of plates, rods & sheets; and is manufactured from proprietary resin. Ertalyte is semi crystalline & unreinforced polyester that is contemporarily a polyethylene terephthalate. It is ought as a material that have excellent wear resistance and superb dimensional stability. It is characterized by a high tensile strength, low friction coefficient, & being chemically inert. Its properties make it ideal candidate for manufacturing of many mechanical parts that have to withstand heavy loads & get worn away easily with passage of time. The working temperature of ertalyte is around 100°C & it melting point is approximately 105°F which is above as compared to nylon & acetals.
There are lots of fields where this substance can be put in use. It is mainly used to make manifolds. It makes the end product chemically inert & stain proof with superb dimensional stability. It is also used to manufacture food equipment components. Some of the locating ring & disk and filter track are also prepared from ertalyte. On the other hand ertalyte gives a hygienic appearance, that’s why it is used by lots of pharmaceutical manufacturers.
